Despite an injury that limited her number of race days in 2015, Tessa Fabry overcame the odds and defended her Battle on the Border title as well as contributed to the High5 Dream Team winning the National Road Series team classification.

Q. What was your highlight of 2015?

A. Winning Battle on the Border for the second year in a row. It was somewhat unexpected as I was coming back from injury and was sick on the first day of the tour and almost didn’t start. I also won my first ever sprint (from a breakaway group) in stage 2 of this race.

Q. What was your favourite National Road Series race?

A. The Cadel Evans Great Ocean Road Race. I loved the course, the crosswinds along the beach made it one of the hardest races I’ve done so far, and the crowds along the course and at the finish created an amazing atmosphere.

Q. What is your favourite High5 product?

A. Caramel Sports Bars.

Q. How many High5 Gels would you estimate you used in 2015?

A. I reckon a few hundred. Hopefully it will be even more next year as I am hoping to race a lot more now that I’m recovered from injury.

Q. What’s the biggest thing you learnt about yourself this season.

A. I’m more motivated by learning and having constant new challenges than by thinking about results.

Q. What’s one cool fact you learnt about a High5 Dream Team teammate?

A. Kendelle knows the different carry on baggage rules of every airline off by heart, and also how to break them without getting caught.

Q. What was the best thing about riding for the High5 Dream Team in 2015?

A. Being able to learn from my teammates. Being relatively new to the sport I’ve found it really beneficial to be on a team of skilled and experienced riders who I can learn from

Q. What are you most excited about heading into 2016?

A. I’m excited for a big summer of racing, which is always a really high standard. I also hope to have the opportunity to race overseas at some point in 2016.
