Desert & Desserts: The Ladies Tour of Qatar

By Kimberley Wells I’ve recently returned from Doha, Qatar with fellow High5 teammates Georgia Baker, Kendelle Hodges and Jessica Mundy where we represented Australia in the four-day, UCI Ladies Tour of Qatar. After racing through the brutal cross winds of the Qatari desert I found myself falling asleep to the sound of the grand piano and awakening to the strums of the harp because the entire peloton was housed in style at the Sheraton hotel.  When we weren’t playing gutter ball in crosswinds and attempting to keep up with the car convoy to get home, we were grazing through...

Ellen Skerritt: Happy Donna – Happy Team

With an early start to the NRS season and with TDU over already, racing is well underway. The Inaugural Cadel’s Great Ocean Road Race in Geelong was the second event for year and my first race to kick the year off. A very well organised event – the standard of racing has truly been raised with many riders describing the race just like a European Spring Classic. Coming into the race, we were a teammate down with Sam DeRiter out due to illness. With only four riders, we focused on the job ahead and were fortunate to have Kendelle,...

With strong winds sweeping along the...

High5 Dream Team’s Kimberly Wells narrowly misses out on claiming victory in Stage 2 of the Santos Women’s Tour after a photo finish was called on to declare a winner. Melissa Hoskins (Orica-AIS) was awarded the win ahead of Wells and Annette Edmondson (Wiggle Honda) at the end of the 40 minute criterium in Adelaide’s East End. Hoskins’ Italian teammate Valentina Scandolara retained the leader’s jersey ahead of Stage 3 by finishing safely inside the bunch. Any plans for teams to try their luck at a breakaway during the day’s stage were quickly laid to rest as the peloton’s speed...

Promising start for the High5 Dream Team on debut in Adelaide

Promising start for the High5 Dream Team as Australian Criterium Champion Kimberley Wells sprints to 12th place in the opening stage of the Santos Women’s Cup NRS event. The first day of racing was full of excitement for all involved – marked by constant attacks, halted due to a train and ending with a sprint finish which came up a lot quicker than many of the top sprinters may had thought. Despite the drama, Italy’s Valentina Scandolara (Orica-AIS) escaped from a lead group of riders containing High5 Dream Team’s Kimberley Wells and three time Junior World Track Champion Georgia Baker with...
