High5 Dream Team have stamped their authority on the 2015 Tour of the Goldfields, taking out both stages on Saturday with a dominant team time trial performance and line honours for Georgia Baker in the afternoon road race.

In a crash marred finish Baker was happy to come through unscathed and keep her composure to secure the win ahead of Julia Kalotas (WA) and Chloe Hosking (ACT).

“I think it was a great show of teamwork today,” said Baker after the race. “The other teams put it to us and made our job of defending the jersey quite difficult out there, but I think it goes to show we have such a strong team both individually and when we come together we really put it on the line for one another. To take the win was really the icing on the cake for today.

“Unfortunately about 500 meters from the finish line I heard a crash behind me and it sounded horrible, so I hope everyone who was involved in that is ok,” she continued. “For a second I was worried about my teammates, then realised I still had to sprint. I went for the line and just beat Julia home.”

Stage 2 Team Time Trial

Earlier in the day, High5 Dream Team beat Total Rush Hyster and Bicycle Superstore in the 20 kilometre team time trial around Burrumbeet.

“As a team we just gelled and smashed it, so it’s really rewarding to protect the yellow jersey and extend Georgia’s lead,” explained Canberra’s Rebecca Wiasak. “We had to look after each other today with a few shorter turns, and we communicated really well out on the road.”
