Fresh from clean-sweeping Amy’s Otway Tour last weekend, the High5 Dream Team head to Canberra for the final race of the 2016 Subaru National Road Series season, the National Capital Tour, with their eyes firmly focussed on winning the Team Classification for the second year running.

The team will be led by hometown hero and Amy’s Otway Tour winner Rebecca Wiasak, who is excited about the opportunity to race in front of her home crowd.

‘I love racing at home. It’s so special to race on roads that we usually train on.

‘This year the National Capital Tour includes a new course that takes in some of our best iconic Canberra attractions.

‘The Yarralumla Embassy loop with the finish on Black Mountain will definitely deliver some surprises, and the location and atmosphere will make that stage pretty hard to top.

‘It’s a truly unique National Road Series event and sure to provide a memorable Canberra experience.

‘There’s a definite hometown advantage. We have done some recon of the opening time trial at Googong Dam as it has changed slightly from last year. That stage could really set things up for the General Classification for the weekend. With only a few seconds in time bonuses throughout the Tour, I imagine both the time trial and the Black Mountain stage will be decisive.

‘The High5 Dream Team will be without Sam de Riter who was a late withdrawal through illness. However, on the back of strong results at Amy’s Otway Tour where we won both stages, General Classification, Teams Classification and both the Sprinters and QOM jerseys, the team will be hungry for more success. As the final round of the National Road Series, one of our main goals will be to protect our lead in the overall Team Classification and finish the season as the number-one NRS team again.

‘The beauty of this team is that every rider has an opportunity on the day. We will be looking for stage wins but Lucy proved in the Amy’s Otway Tour Road Race that she is the in-form climber so if she is in a position to win the Tour, we will do everything we can to support her.

‘I have loved being back on the road and racing with the High5 Dream Team again. It’s amazing to be part of a team where every rider will absolutely empty themselves to help one of our teammates win,’ said Wiasak.
